Model for Shared Services in Public Sector
I have long thought that Shared Service Organization (SSO) models can provide a suitable solution for many smaller community sector and not for profit organizations.
SSOs can help multiple organizations provide services more efficiently and more effectively. Since so many community based organizations are continuing to struggle with manaing their budgets while trying to find innovative ways to provide services, an SSO model is clearly something to be considered.
I just stumbled onto the Lambton Shared Services Center, a single point of access for information, employment and financial services along with shared meeting and training facilities. If the information on their website is correct, it is "the only formalized partnership in Canada where all three levels of government and the private sector deliver programs from a single access facility."
Sounds like an interesting model to consider!
